  • How Much Medical Marijuana Can be Purchased From the Dispensary?
    A resident cardholder shall not obtain more than a total of six (6) MMCEUs of allowable medical cannabis in a week from a dispensary or a combination of dispensaries. A resident cardholder shall not obtain more than a total of twenty-four (24) MMCEUs of allowable medical cannabis in thirty (30) days from a dispensary or a combination of dispensaries.

    We are not aware of any insurance providers that cover the costs of medical marijuana at present, because marijuana is illegal at the federal level. In regards to the state registration fee, Medicaid participants have a fifteen-dollar application fee and a fifteen-dollar card renewal fee.

  • What Is a Medical Marijuana Caregiver?
    A "designated caregiver" is a person, at least 21 years of age, who has agreed to assist no more than five (5) registered qualifying patients with their medical use of medical cannabis. Typically, a designated caregiver will not be your physician or nurse practitioner.
  • How Do I Apply to Be a Medical Marijuana Caregiver in Mississippi?
    In order to become a caregiver, you must apply through the Mississippi Medical Marijuana Use Registry. Caregivers must also complete a caregiver certification course by the Mississippi Department of Health. ​ Additional requirements for becoming a caregiver include: A caregiver must be 21 years of age or older. A caregiver cannot be a qualified physician. A caregiver cannot be employed within any industry that could benefit economically from the activities on behalf of the patient such as a medical marijuana treatment center or marijuana testing laboratory. If caregivers are not close relatives of the patient, a background check may also be required.
  • How Many Caregivers Can a Mississippi Medical Marijuana Patient Have?
    A qualified medical marijuana patient may designate no more than one caregiver, unless: The patient is a minor and the caregivers are the parents or legal guardians of the patient; The patient is an adult who has an intellectual or developmental disability that prevents the patient from being able to care for himself or herself without assistance or supervision and the designated caregivers are the parents or legal guardians of the qualified patient; or The patient is admitted to a hospice program.
  • Can My Employer Still Drug Test Me for Marijuana if I am A Registered Patient?
    Unfortunately, the answer is yes, they can. Mississippi does not provide protection to medical marijuana patients from employee drug testing. It will be left to the discretion of each employer whether they wish to recognize an employee's medical marijuana approval as an exemption to company drug testing policies. However, employers are prohibited from discriminating against an individual in hiring, termination, or any term or condition of employment based on an individual’s past or present status as a caregiver or a qualifying patient.
  • Can Patients Grow Their Own Medical Marijuana At Home?
    No, Mississippi medical marijuana patients are prohibited from growing medical marijuana at home under Mississippi law. All medical marijuana is required to be purchased from one of the state-approved dispensary locations.
