Medical marijuana is legal in Mississippi, and patients with their medical card finally have access to their medicine! The first three dispensaries in the state opened on Wednesday, January 25th, 2023.
The three dispensaries that opened this past week include Cannabis Company (Brookhaven), Hybrid Relief (Oxford), and Starbuds (Oxford). The state is also actively working to open more dispensaries and cultivation sites in 2023.
In order to visit any of these dispensaries, patients must receive a recommendation from a licensed physician in the state who will verify their qualifying condition and come up with a treatment plan.
Then, patients must register with the state’s medical cannabis program and apply within 60 days of receiving their recommendation. They will receive an electronic medical cannabis card which they can use at their local dispensary.
Patients with their medical marijuana card may purchase up to 3.5 grams of product per day, 6 days a week, which adds up to roughly 3 ounces each month.
